WASHINGTON (SBG) — It's summer, which means it's time to cool off with some sweet treats.
So many flavors, so little time; you've got chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, ketchup, mayo, cookies & cream and more.
Wait ... ketchup and mayo? Yes — you read that right. If you're brave enough, your favorite summer treat could get a new twist.
Heinz launched do-it-yourself kits in Britain this month, allowing eager ice cream lovers to turn their favorite sauces into a frozen dessert.
The “Creamz” kits cost about $17 each and comes with a sauce, a reusable ice cream tub, a recipe card, an engraved spoon and scoop. As for the milk, that's the one thing not included. If you're vegan, there is a sorbet option.
Flavors include ketchup, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, salad cream and saucy sauce. Each kit purchased comes with a full-sized version of the condiment. The treats were released July 1, which happens to coincide with National Ice Cream Month in the United Kingdom. The ketchup flavor is so popular that it's already sold out.
If you're in the U.S., don't get your hopes up just yet. Heinz doesn't plan to sell the kits in the U.S. However, the condiment company has added the complete recipe online for anyone daring enough to try it. National Ice Cream Day in the United States is July 19, so maybe this is just what you need to celebrate?
