Despite a rainy weather forecast, over 3,000 people participated in Saturday's Mermaid Parade in Coney Island.

The New York event, the 35th of its type, is lauded by organizers as "the largest art parade in America."

Participants crowned New York musicians Debbie Harry and Chris Stein as this year's Mermaid Queen and King Neptune.
