The beautiful Oak View Farm is a wonderful historic location in Raleigh, North Carolina. While it's great to visit all times of the year, this season they are decked out in Christmas decoration. We got to tour the Plank Kitchen and Main House and see decorations interpreting five different time periods in Oak View’s history. We traveled through Christmas in the Antebellum Era, Civil War Era, Victorian Era, Great Depression, and World War II!
The tour explores how historic events impacted holiday customs, traditions and decorations through the years. Did you know the Christmas tree has only been a tradition in America for around 100 years? Queen Victoria made the Christmas tree popular in the late 1800's. We loved learning more about Christmas' history and the tour got us in the spirit for the holiday!
